Description

Spotswood College is in the city of New Plymouth. A friendly, safe city (population 68,000) in the province of Taranaki on the west coast of the North Island. New Plymouth is only a short 40 minute plane flight from Auckland or Wellington.

Spotswood College is a vibrant, multicultural school with 730 students including up to 20 International Students. We offer exciting opportunities for all students in academic, cultural and sporting areas. Academic programmes are individually developed catering to the students needs, skills and future plans.

The school covers 16 hectares of well cared for grounds incorporating garden, grassed areas, five sports fields, a beach volleyball court, all weather courts for winter & summer sport, swimming pool and music suite with a recording studio. Construction of a new gymnasium will commence in 2018.

Spotswood International prides itself on providing the very best pastoral care for International Students in a safe and supportive environment.

Tuition costs

Tuition 2018: $14,400 per school year

Accommodation

Our International Students are all placed with a caring host family.

As required by the Code of Practice for International Students, all hosts are police vetted. Spotswood College has no boarding facilities.

The cost per week for 2018 will be $245.

Student support

A dedicated international team is available 24/7 to ensure the safety and well being of students at all times. The welfare of our students is paramount and we have experienced, well qualified people available to support our students in all areas of their life in New Zealand.

ESOL courses are available at all year and ability levels.

School reports and testimonials should accompany an Application to Study. The school seeks to recruit students who have some English language skills. However intensive English language assistance is available.

Curriculum

Together with core subjects Spotswood College offers a wide curriculum choice including

Technology - textiles, wood, graphics, hard metal, electronics;

Digital- computer studies, information & media;

Arts - art design, painting, sculpture, photography, art history, drama, music studies & music performance;

Physical Education & health including food & nutrition;

Languages - Japanese, Spanish, French, Te Reo Maori;

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at all levels. IELTS preparation is also offered in the ESOL programme.

The availability of multi-level education allows students to study subjects at different levels according to their ability. International students are encouraged to gain New Zealand qualifications - NCEA level 1,2 & 3.
