Tuakau College is a small Year 7-13 Co-Educational school located in a rural setting in South Auckland. We provide students with a broad-based high quality education based on the essential learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum.

Our College prepares students for life through a quality education promoting excellence in all areas. We believe in creating educational opportunities that prepare students for their future irrespective of their background or academic ability.

Students are supported and encouraged by high quality, dedicated staff who provide the best possible education in a safe and orderly learning environment where they will have many opportunities to discover and develop their talents with consistently high levels of NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) Pass rates.

As a signatory to the NZ Code of Practice, we welcome international students to our clean, green and safe environment in a rural community. Students may choose to homestay with a Kiwi family to experience our New Zealand outdoor lifestyle whilst increasing their English language skills.  All International students are eligible for ESOL support from a qualified teacher.

Tuition costs

NZD $12,700.00 per Year (2018) GST Inclusive

Accommodation homestay,

Tuakau College organises Homestay accommodation. NZ$260.00 per week

Student support

On site full time registered Nurse/Health centre, School Guidance Counsellor, Dean and Whanau (Homeroom) Teacher.

Type of programs Long-term programs (study for 1 year or more), Short-term programs (study for 3-6-9 month), Tuakau College is ready to accept international students willing to study in New Zealand short-term.

Application process
  1. Submit all completed application documents 
  2. School reviews application. If the student is accepted an acceptance letter and invoice will be issued.
  3. Payment of all fees must be made – Payment information will be available on the invoice.
  4. School issues Offer of Placement and receipt of fees.
  5. Student must have correct visa and insurance for travel to NZ.
  6. Inform school of arrival details.
Features of the local area

There are lots of things to see and do in the area. We are close to parks, beaches, beautiful bush walks and nature all over the region as well as shopping, cinemas, sports, golf and ten pin bowling in the nearby town of Pukekohe (10 minute drive). We also have an open air swimming pool in Tuakau.

  • Attractions – Nikau Caves, Motor Racing, horse racing, surf beaches, sports and river activities.
  • Adventure & Sports – as well as a broad range of sport available through Tuakau College, there are plenty of other sports available locally such as surfing, kayaking, horse riding, motocross and quad biking.
