Palmerston North High School was founded in 1902 and re-established separately as Palmerston North Boys' High and Palmerston North Girls' High School in 1920. To this day, we remain as the top brother and sister school in our region with strong results in academic, cultural and sporting achievements. PNGHS offers a tailored international programme aimed at ensuring international learners have an amazing study abroad experience. Students are encouraged to participate in various sporting, cultural and co-curricular activities while having the ability to choose from a wide range of academic subject areas. Benefits of being in an all-girls school mean they can have the freedom to be themselves, learn how to take responsibility, risks, and to inspire and lead others. PNGHS, 1250 girls and 45 international students. PNGHS, offer homestay only. Sports

We support over 30 sports codes including both individual and team pursuits. Most of our sports have teams selected to compete at the annual NZ Secondary School competition.
Our individuals earn NZ representation status and many represent NZ in global competitions.

Application process

After completing the application form, we will require translated copies of the most recent school reports. Students are assessed on their English proficiency on arrival. They are then placed in appropriate level classes. Please let us know if students have prior IELTs results. We may conduct an online interview to assess suitability.
