Rongotai College is a secondary school for boys located in Wellington, New Zealand’s dynamic and cosmopolitan capital city. Each Year, we welcome a limited number of international students from around the world. Founded in 1928, Rongotai College has a long and proud history of achievement and success. International Students who attend our school improve their English language ability can gain an internationally recognised qualifications and are able to experience quality education with outstanding facilities in a beautiful location close to beaches. Our experienced staff are committed to ensuring that our international students are well looked after, and our students ensure international students are warmly welcomed.

Tuition costs

$16,000 per year.

Accommodation homestay,

Homestay Coordinator and International Student Dean organises Homestay for our International Students. We have lots of families who are happy to look after your son while he attends our school. Our families are all experienced in homestay and really enjoy being involved with caring for and assisting your son’s stay. We work hard to provide the student with the family we believe will suit him the best. We base this on the information that is provided on the enrolment form. We understand that the boys are a long way from home and it is important for both of us that he is settled and well cared for. Long term International Students will have their own rooms. For stays of less than 1 term Students may have a double homestay. Homestay placement fee ranges from $350.00 Homestay fee per week: $335.00 per week for 2024. Homestay placement fee and Administration fee ranges from $200.00 to $750.00 pending on length of stay.

Student support

Guidance Counsellor, International Student Dean, 1st language speakers in Thai, Spanish, German, Japanese and Chinese available. School physiotherapist and nurse on appointment. Banking set up for new students.

The Wellington Sword Club operates from Rongotai College and membership is free to all Rongotai College students. The Club provides a free loan of equipment with the option of purchasing personal equipment.

Students need to be of good character, have a face time interview prior to enrolment and complete the application form from the school website.
