Director of Enrollment

Description

For over 140 years Stuart Hall has provided a progressive and innovative college-preparatory education to our students. Unlike most boarding schools, our campus is a part of the Staunton, VA community. Our location within Staunton allows our students the autonomy to be able to walk into town during free time and on the weekends. This freedom in a small community is an important step in preparing students to be independent while attending university. We have students from around the world, from across the nation, and from all of our neighbouring cities and counties. We speak a myriad of languages. We celebrate incredible ethnic and socioeconomic diversity.

Accommodation boarding,

Our Residence Life Program at Stuart Hall School takes the college-preparatory experience one step further by introducing students to campus living. Our students enjoy the freedom of living in a safe, small town where local coffee shops, restaurants, stores, farmers' markets, and other points of interest are just blocks away from our historic campus.

In-town boarding provides a venue like no other to learn valuable skills of personal initiative, community living, and respect for local culture. While always maintaining the utmost standards for student safety and care, we encourage our boarders to both experience life beyond our campus boundaries and take part in the life of the School.

Student support

Every student in grades 8-12 is assigned an advisor, a faculty member who serves as the primary point of contact for each advisee, both for parents and for other faculty members. Advisors work to have the big-picture perspective on each advisee’s life and to help each advisee explore their interests, go beyond their comfort zone, and make the most of their time at Stuart Hall.

Curriculum

Stuart Hall’s 178-year history of preparing young people for the academic rigors of college continues strong. Our graduates repeatedly tell us how easily they handle the academics, independence and responsibilities of college life. A wide range of AP offerings challenge our students to earn college credits, while our newly augmented Learning Support Services help students realize their full academic potential.

Excellent college prep goes beyond core subjects, of course, and guides us in our approach to Art, Music, and World Language.
