Description Queenswood is an all-round Boarding and Day School for 460 girls, aged 11-18. We are just 20 minutes from central London and set in 120 acres of idyllic grounds. Our girls achieve great academic success while enjoying a very wide range of co-curricular activities. We are well known for excellence in Music, Art, Dance, Drama and Sport. Queenswood is proud to be an international community and overseas girls make up around 15% of the pupils. We welcome girls of all faiths and none, and recognise and support an individual’s adherence to her own faith, but expect all girls to embrace the School’s broad spiritual ethos.
Tuition costs

EAL lessons £795 per term. LAMDA (Speech and Drama lessons) are compulsory for EAL students up to Grade 5, this is charged at an additional £265 per term. Termly boarding fees are the same as for UK boarders and include accommodation – Years 7-8 £10,235 Years 9-13 £13,950 (Fees are for the 2023-2024 academic year).

Student support

Girls have access to support from a wide network of pastoral care, including: Head of Year, two Tutors per class, Head of Boarding, Housemistresses, Boarding Assistants, Residential Counsellor, three qualified Nurses, School Chaplain as well as the Deputy Head Pastoral. There are ongoing training sessions for subjects such as online safety, in addition to the Meditation club for years 7 & 8 and Yoga classes.

English as second language

EAL provision – one hour 1-1 per week plus a weekly group lesson. Summer school programs are provided on site by our language school partner - “Lines”.

Sports

Approximately 70 activities are offered each term. Popular choices include, horse riding, polo, cookery, coding club, and media club. We are a top tennis school and excel at hockey and netball. We also offer football, cricket, fencing, gymnastics, hoops, swimming, yoga, strengthening and conditioning, volleyball, badminton, trampolining and golf.

Application process

Once registered, there are three parts to our application process - school reference, online interview and Queenswood’s entrance tests.

Features of the local area

Semi-rural location, 20 minutes by fast train from central London, 55 minutes from Heathrow airport. There is great shopping in St Albans, an historic town located 20 minutes from Queenswood.
